Jason Wu's world changed overnight when Michelle Obama wore his gown to the Presidential Inaugural Ball. Since then, Wu has become the must-have designer for women around the world, and is now launching an eyewear collection. Wu described his inspiration saying, “when I was thinking of accessories I thought, what is the one thing that’s iconic for actresses and memorable women? Every iconic woman is known for her sunglasses.” The collection features subtle cat-eye frames and metal details, along with over-sized shapes for a classic shape. The entire line is designed to portray iconic women through the ages including Amelia Earhart, Elizabeth Bennet (Pride and Prejudice), and Josephine (“Jo” from Little Women). The collection will also have optical as well as sunglasses, ranging from $225 to $375. President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama danced their way through 10 official inaugural balls on Tuesday night.Before the dancing took off, Barack Obama addressed the crowd, which erupted in applause when he entered the room. "First of all, how good-looking is my wife?" Obama joked.
