Akira's Harajuku Night

Sushi Samba Rio on Wells was alight with some of the city’s most fashionable crowd Thursday evening as Chicagoans came out en masse for a delicious taste of cutting-edge style and heaps of fun. The enclosed rooftop with its near panoramic views, lounging areas and extensive bar hosted a lengthy fashion show produced by Akira. The show, which exceeded expectations, elicited frequent cheers from an excited audience. The ensembles displayed were sometimes quirky and utterly unpredictable, yielding an energy and excitement that swelled, reaching a near frenzy at points. The ultra Harajuku-esque styled models shimmied down the runway in a variety of wears, ranging from shiny party dresses to pink hot-shorts and billowy blouses, as a dj pumped out remixes with sexy beats. Models hair and makeup was radical and included bursts of canary yellow and orange eye-shadow, tousled hair and accessories that sometimes stole the show.

10 Cane Rum provided complimentary cocktails for the crowd that arrived with fresh orchids in each glass, which many guests restyled as accessories tucked behind their ears as the night wore on. Fashion satiated guests departed with plump goody bags, which included a 10 Cane Rum mojito kit, t-shirts, cds, gift certificates and more.

The sexy night was a tantalizing success full of fashion surprises, elegant drinks and ambiance that hit the spot.
