Party Report: Gucci/UNICEF benefit

On Wednesday, February 6, A-list celebs and the fashionable crowd all came together under one roof for a benefit dinner for UNICEF at the United Nations Building. The fashion elite, all in town for NYC’s Fashion Week Fall 2008, gave a tour de force gusto of support. Madonna, the evening’s hostess and one of the major impetuses for the benefit party, rallied her celebrity friends and performers to entertain guests. Alicia Keys performed beautifully, as did Rhianna. The celebrities in attendance were the true A-listers and included: Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, J.Lo, Anna Wintour, Donald Trump, Gweneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Ashton and Demi, and Orlando Bloom and too many others to name. All looked fabulous and many guests opted to wear Gucci for the night including the adorable Camilla Belle who was later featured on Who What Wear Daily at the Gucci Party in an sexy black and pink number.

The dinner was elegant and the entertainment, clearly, first class. Post dinner, guests took to the dance floor and mingled catching up on the excitement of the runways and the buzz about New York and the UNICEF event.

As the evening progressed, champagne flowed freely into the night. Models abounded at the after-party, as did the paparazzi outside the United Nations Building.

We were lucky enough to make the very difficult and high maintenance cut for admittance to the after-party and took full advantage by dancing to our hearts content, all the while pinching ourselves and expecting to wake up from this surreal and dreamy context any moment. Luckily, I was wearing a deep red Cyndi Chan dress for the occasion and able to represent a little bit of Chicago at the Gucci party.
