Cyndi Lauper headlined this year's Macy's Glamorama: Pop Candy Arcade, alongside MC Hammer, bringing the '80s to 2008 for the 10th anniversary of the event to benefit the Art Institute of Chicago. “Glamorama 2008 pumps it up ’80s style with bodacious fashion, bangin’ music and totally awesome entertainment, all with a modern twist,” said Jennifer Wilkins, Macy’s Trend Expert. “From the stellar show to our over-the-top post party, Glam guests went back to the ’80s in style.” Designers this year included, Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan Collection, Celine, CNC Costume National, Just Cavalli, Ports 1961, SportMax and Tibi. Following the show, guests attended yet another amazing post party on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street. Oversized screens of 80s music videos, arcade lounges with Pacman and Donkey Kong and a Rubik's Cube lounge encompassed the space.
Over the past nine years, Glamorama has raised a total of $2 million for the Art Institute of Chicago. Celebrities at the event along with Cyndi Lauper and MC Hammer included Tanika Ray (Weekend correspondent for Extra), Lawrence Zarian (often seen on Regis & Kelly), Steve Guttenberg (Police Academy, Three Men and a Baby, and recently Dancing with the Stars) and Sanaa Lathan (Tony nominated actress for Raisin in the Sun).
